Survival with Axicabtagene Ciloleucel in Large B-Cell Lymphoma

In a phase 3 trial, patients with early relapsed or refractory large B-cell lymphoma who received axicabtagene ciloleucel (axi-cel), a type of CAR-T cell therapy, as second-line treatment had longer event-free survival compared to those who received standard care. The trial randomly assigned patients to receive axi-cel or standard care, and the primary outcome measured was event-free survival. At a median follow-up of 47.2 months, the axi-cel group showed a median overall survival that was not reached, while the standard-care group had a median overall survival of 31.1 months. The study suggests that axi-cel as a second-line treatment can significantly improve overall survival in patients with early relapsed or refractory large B-cell lymphoma.
