
This systematic review analyzed 265 in vitro studies examining two-drug combinations against Staphylococcus aureus, including MRSA and MSSA. Time-kill and checkerboard assays were most common. Synergy rates varied widely depending on the drugs and strains tested. Glycopeptide-cephalosporin combinations were most frequently studied. Future research should prioritize combinations with strong biological rationale and clinical potential for treating resistant S. aureus infections.
