
A study evaluating the efficacy of taniborbactam (FEP–TAN) and ledaborbactam (CTB–LED) against KPC-producing carbapenem-resistant bacteria revealed these inhibitors remain effective against clinically significant KPC-2 and KPC-3 variants (V240G, D179Y, and D179Y/T243M). Unlike ceftazidime–avibactam (CAZ–AVI), FEP–TAN and CTB–LED were highly active against Escherichia coli expressing these variants. These inhibitors had better inhibition efficiency than AVI, with FEP and CTB showing weak hydrolysis by KPC variants, highlighting the potential for overcoming CAZ–AVI resistance.
