Targeting GAMs with Modified Drugs Enhances Glioblastoma Chemotherapy

Modified drugs effectively target glioblastoma-associated macrophages (GAMs). Camptothecin and resiquimod were conjugated to a peptide targeting low-density lipoprotein receptor-related protein 1, enabling their entry into the brain. Inside the CNS, these drugs altered GAMs from a tumor-supporting to a tumor-inhibiting phenotype, improving glioblastoma’s sensitivity to chemotherapy. This research highlights a promising approach to enhance chemotherapy effectiveness for glioblastoma treatment.
