TBI-223, an oxazolidinone antibiotic in clinical development for tuberculosis, demonstrated potent activity and an improved safety profile over linezolid in preclinical studies. In a phase 1 trial (n = 114), it was well tolerated at doses up to 2,600 mg (single) and 2,400 mg/day (multiple). No severe adverse events occurred, and QTc prolongation rates were similar to placebo. These findings support further investigation of TBI-223 for tuberculosis treatment.
