Temozolomide-Based Treatments Show Promise for Advanced Pancreatic Neuroendocrine Tumors

A recent study revealed the efficacy and safety of temozolomide, an alkylating agent, in treating advanced pancreatic neuroendocrine tumours (pNETs). The study analyzed 14 studies involving 441 patients and found a 41.2% objective response rate and an 85.3% disease control rate. While nonserious adverse events were common (93.8%), serious adverse events were observed in 23.7% of cases, primarily haematological toxicities. The study suggested temozolomide as a potentially effective and safe treatment for advanced pNETs, although further research is needed.
