In a multi-center study of 131 thyroid eye disease (TED) patients treated with teprotumumab between 2020 and 2022, significant improvements were observed. 77% saw proptosis reduction of 2mm or more, and 50% experienced improved diplopia. However, adverse events (AEs) were common in 81.7% of patients, with musculoskeletal issues being the most prevalent. Most AEs were mild (74%) but 12.2% discontinued treatment due to severe AEs like hearing loss and inflammatory bowel disease flare. The study emphasizes the need for careful screening, monitoring, and management of AEs in teprotumumab therapy for TED patients.
