
The Madras High Court has ruled that doctors are not obligated to disclose the name of a minor seeking an abortion due to consensual sexual activity. A Special Bench cited a Supreme Court directive, stating that minors approaching registered medical practitioners for pregnancy termination under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act need not reveal their identity. The SC had noted that mandatory reporting might deter minors from seeking safe medical terminations.
