The article is a review of current practices in the diagnosis and management of deep neck space infections (DNSIs). The review included 60 studies from 2000 that reported on DNSI investigation or management. The study found that computer tomography (CT) was the most used imaging modality, and open surgical drainage was the most common treatment choice. However, there is a lack of methodologically rigorous studies investigating DNSIs, and further research on epidemiology, reporting guidelines, and management is required.
