The association between atopic dermatitis and high blood pressure

Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic, inflammatory skin disease that affects up to 20% of children and 10% of adults globally. Its main symptom is itch. It is also associated with skin pain, sleep disturbance, anxiety and depression, obesity and a sedentary lifestyle. These, and other treatment factors may make it more likely that patients develop increased blood pressure. As high blood pressure puts people at risk of developing cardiovascular diseases it is important to understand more about this subject.
