Several studies have reported a higher prevalence of eczema in areas with hard water, and high mineral content water, in infants and school‐aged children. However, this association has not been explored in adults before. The findings suggest that higher domestic hard water concentration exposure was associated with increased odds of eczema in middle‐aged adults. Ongoing efforts to reduce hard water exposure may have a beneficial effect in reducing eczema prevalence in adults.
