The association between metabolic syndrome and major adverse cardiac in patients with acute coronary syndrome

This study explores the link between metabolic syndrome (MetS) and major adverse cardiac and cerebrovascular events (MACCE) post-percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in acute coronary syndrome (ACS) patients. Analyzing 13,459 ACS patients undergoing PCI, MetS presence increased MACCE risk (adjusted HR 1.22), with myocardial infarction significantly elevated (aHR 1.43). Hypertension and impaired fasting glucose, among MetS components, associated with higher MACCE risk. Having four or five MetS components showed increased MACCE incidence. Recognition of these associations provides insights for clinicians in implementing preventive strategies.
