A recent study suggests that sensory impairments, such as loss of smell, vision, hearing, and touch, are associated with shorter telomere length in older adults. The study, which included 1603 participants, found that severe olfactory impairment had the greatest impact on telomere length, while vision and hearing impairments showed no significant correlation. The findings highlight the importance of addressing sensory impairments in aging populations and promoting preventive measures, screening, and corrective interventions.
