This cross-sectional study investigated the impact of childhood trauma on suicide risk and examined the mediating roles of resilience and mental distress. Using measures like the Childhood Trauma Questionnaire, Connor-Davison Resilience Scale, and Suicide Behavior Questionnaire-Revised, the study found that childhood trauma significantly predicted suicide risk and mental distress. Resilience negatively affected mental distress and suicide risk, while mental distress positively correlated with suicide risk. Structural equation modeling indicated that resilience and mental distress acted as chain mediators in the relationship between childhood trauma and suicide risk. The findings underscore the importance of a comprehensive approach to understanding and addressing suicide risk among graduate students.
