
A comprehensive in vitro analysis examined the biomechanical effects of various contaminants (saliva, blood, chlorhexidine in liquid and gel form, and fluoride mouthwash) on dental implant abutment screws. Static and dynamic loading tests were conducted on 45 Ti6Al4V dental implants and abutments. Findings revealed that static torque loss was consistent across all media prior to dynamic loading. However, dynamic tests exhibited differences in reverse torque values and torque loss due to loading, with certain media groups demonstrating significant torque loss. Microstructural analysis suggested the importance of regular abutment screw retightening for long-term prosthetic stability in implant-supported dental procedures.
