
Exercise training can benefit patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD), reducing their risk of cardiovascular disease, a prevalent concern beyond traditional risk factors like hypertension. Endothelial dysfunction and arterial stiffness contribute to this risk, with studies indicating exercise's potential to address these issues. A review of 25 randomized, controlled trials encompassing 872 CKD patients explored the effects of exercise training on vascular function. Findings revealed that exercise reduced pulse wave velocity and augmentation index, although it didn't impact vasodilation. Notably, exercise of moderate intensity showed more promise. Further research is needed to identify the most effective exercise interventions for them.
