A study investigated the effects of empagliflozin on patients with type 2 diabetes and a high risk of cardiovascular events. The patients were divided into two groups: one received empagliflozin 25mg daily, and the other received a placebo for 13 weeks. The study found that treatment with empagliflozin led to a decrease in measured glomerular filtration rate (mGFR) by 7.9 mL/min, estimated extracellular volume (ECV) by 192.5 mL, and estimated plasma volume (PV) by 128.9 mL after 13 weeks. These findings suggest that empagliflozin may have a significant impact on mGFR, ECV, and PV in patients with type 2 diabetes and a high risk of cardiovascular events.

Most recommendations remain conditional because evidence certainty is low or very low in several clinical areas.

A nationwide Colombian study identified 4,608 healthcare encounters related to childhood interstitial and diffuse lung disease (chILD) from 2016–2024. Average annual prevalence was 3.32 per 100,000 children, highest among infants and with a secondary rise during adolescence. Reported cases increased annually (IRR 1.022), while declining markedly during the COVID-19 pandemic.
