Gender dysphoria can be debilitating for transgender populations, including transgender men (TM), individuals who were assigned female at birth but who identify as men, that can benefit from hormonal therapy with testosterone products to address gender dysphoria. The study aims to summarize the efficacy, safety profile, and outcomes of the TM population's different testosterone replacement treatments (TRT). Testosterone therapy can impact the TM population with improved safety, efficiency, quality of life and function. However, with the rise of the newer FDA‐approved TRT, randomized studies are warranted to determine its safety and efficacity in this TM population.

Chronic urticaria is a heterogeneous mast cell-driven disease with major effects on quality of life. Current care emphasizes diagnosis, limited targeted testing, disease monitoring and stepwise treatment, beginning with second-generation H1-antihistamines and up-dosing when needed. Omalizumab and newer therapies such as dupilumab and remibrutinib expand options for refractory disease, while future care may be guided by biomarkers and disease endotypes.

A study found that the peak amplitude of infraslow oscillations in sleep spindle activity was significantly reduced in people with Alzheimer’s disease, while frequency and bandwidth remained preserved. Pooled cure rates were highest with liposomal amphotericin B (77%) and miltefosine (75%), compared with 59% for meglumine antimoniate. However, limited comparative evidence highlights the need for species-specific, high-quality randomized trials.

PEDIATRICS

Placenta accreta was associated with greater treatment escalation after uterine compression sutures for postpartum hemorrhage.

A retrospective study of 33 women with postpartum hemorrhage during cesarean delivery found that uterine compression sutures achieved hemostasis in 69.7% of cases. Suspected placenta accreta spectrum was significantly more common among women needing escalation (60.0% vs. 8.7%; p=0.004).

ICS–SABA reduced asthma exacerbations and corticosteroid use without increasing adverse events in a five-RCT meta-analysis.

A meta-analysis of five randomized controlled trials found that as-needed ICS–SABA significantly reduced asthma exacerbations compared with SABA-only reliever therapy. ICS–SABA lowered exacerbation rates and the risk of experiencing at least one exacerbation by 31%, while extending time to first exacerbation and reducing systemic corticosteroid exposure by about 39 mg, without increasing adverse events.
