The Neurological Pupil Index (NPi), a precise and automated measure of pupillary reactivity, emerges as a crucial prognostic tool for acute brain injury patients. Abnormal NPi correlated with poor neurological outcomes and higher in-hospital mortality. This breakthrough offers the potential for continuous bedside monitoring, enhancing prognostication accuracy. The study, involving 514 patients, demonstrated NPi's significant clinical and statistical predictive value. The new technique showcases promise for refined critical care.
