In a study involving 130 elderly acute heart failure patients with preserved ejection fraction, researchers examined the predictive value of hemoglobin to red blood cell distribution width (Hb/RDW) ratio and serum sodium for major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) at 30 days post-discharge. Spearman analysis revealed negative correlations between MACE occurrence and Hb/RDW, and serum sodium. Multifactorial logistic analysis confirmed them as independent risk factors. Receiver operating characteristic curves showed Hb/RDW had an AUC of 0.73, serum sodium 0.76, and combined Hb/RDW with serum sodium 0.83 for MACE prediction. Hb/RDW combined with serum sodium proves effective in predicting 30-day MACE in elderly heart failure patients.
