The relationship between insulin resistance, serum alkaline phosphatase, and left ventricular dysfunction following myocardial infarction

In the study, the relationship between insulin resistance (IR) proxies (triglyceride-glucose index, TG/HDL-C ratio), alkaline phosphatase (AP), and left ventricular (LV) dysfunction in patients admitted after acute myocardial infarction (AMI) was explored. The study included 810 patients who underwent coronary angiography for AMI at the First Hospital of Hebei Medical University between August 2018 and December 2021. Patients were categorized based on serum AP levels. Results showed a significant correlation between the TyG index and TG/HDL-C ratio. Elevated serum AP, the presence of the left anterior descending (LAD) artery as the infarct-related artery, and TG levels were identified as protective risk factors for an admission LVEF < 40% following AMI. Conversely, serum alkaline phosphatase and LAD as IRA were found to be independent risk factors for severe LVEF reduction during AMI hospitalization. Triglycerides acted as independent protective factors in this context.
