The Role of Fractional Exhaled Nitric Oxide in Diagnosing Asthmatic Type 2 Chronic Rhinosinusitis With Nasal Polyps

The diagnostic value of fractional exhaled nitric oxide (FeNO) in asthmatic chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) was evaluated in this study. FeNO levels were compared among different CRSwNP subgroups, and FeNO was found to be significantly higher in patients with T2-CRSwNP based on histological data. FeNO levels were correlated with the blood eosinophil percentage and FEV1/FVC. FeNO was found to be a useful marker for screening asthmatic T2-CRSwNP, and it may assist in selecting the appropriate treatment. The optimal cutoff values for FeNO and the blood eosinophil percentage for diagnosing asthmatic T2-CRSwNP were determined.
