Focal therapy, an emerging approach for localized prostate cancer, is debated despite popularity. The American Urological Association (AUA) and National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) advise against routine use due to limited evidence. University of California Urologic Collaborative (UC) outlined guidelines, suggesting cautious use. Focal therapy might suit intermediate risk patients, while low or high-risk cases need more evidence. Counseling should highlight its experimental nature. Patients could benefit from focused biopsies and imaging. Post-treatment follow-ups should combine PSA, imaging, and biopsy. UC aims to guide safe practice and future research for this evolving treatment method.
