A study assessed fluvoxamine's efficacy in preventing clinical deterioration in COVID-19 patients, including higher-risk outpatients between Dec 2020 and May 2021. However, the trial was stopped early due to low event rates and inadequate recruitment. Out of 547 participants, 4.8% in the fluvoxamine group and 5.5% in the placebo group experienced clinical deterioration. The trial found no significant difference between the two groups. The study questions fluvoxamine's efficacy in preventing COVID-19 deterioration in unvaccinated outpatients.
