Lobar resection has been the standard of care for peripheral early-stage non—small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Over the last few years, the surgical lung-sparing approach has been compared with lobar resection in T1N0 NSCLC. Local ablation involves placement of a probe into a tumour and subsequent application of either heat or cold energy, pulsing electrical fields, or order of radioactive source under image guidance to create a zone of cell death that encompasses the targeted lesion and an ablation margin. This article discusses selected endoscopic and percutaneous thermal and non-thermal therapies focusing on their efficacy and safety.

Blocking miR-30e-5p reduced atherosclerosis in obese and atherosclerotic mice, highlighting a potential therapeutic pathway.

Evidence indicates that ASC speck formation triggers caspase-1 activation, gasdermin D-mediated pyroptosis, and IL-1β/IL-18 signalling, creating self-amplifying inflammation and tissue breakdown. The model could refine diagnosis and help redefine the biological limits of vital pulp therapy.

Cyclosporine 0.09% and 0.1% ranked highest for corneal staining improvement, while tacrolimus showed early improvements in tear production and stability. Varenicline increased tear production but needs further comparative validation.
