Theta-Gamma Coupling Deficits Linked to Working Memory Impairment in Panic Disorder

The study explores theta-gamma coupling (TGC) and theta power deficits in panic disorder (PD) patients using electroencephalography (EEG). PD patients showed significantly reduced TGC and theta power compared to healthy controls, particularly during resting-state and mental arithmetic tasks. TGC and theta power were positively correlated with mental arithmetic performance and negatively correlated with anxiety and stress. These findings highlight neural impairments in working memory and anxiety regulation in PD.
