Among 908 heart and 871 lung retransplant recipients, time to retransplant did not impact survival for heart recipients. However, lung retransplant recipients with a shorter time to retransplantation (tertile 1) demonstrated decreased survival. Detailed evaluations are crucial for potential lung retransplant candidates with a time to retransplantation less than 2.8 years.
