A recent systematic review and meta-analysis, encompassing 18 randomized controlled trials with 1224 participants, explored the impact of low-frequency repeated transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) on epilepsy. Findings revealed a noteworthy reduction in seizure frequency during antiepileptic drug therapy, particularly in the first-week post-treatment. Additionally, rTMS significantly enhanced treatment efficacy and cognitive assessment scores and displayed temporal relevance. Despite stable results and the absence of publication biases, researchers advocate for more extensive, high-quality prospective studies to solidify these conclusions.
