Time-restricted eating (TRE) may not significantly impact weight or metabolism. A 12-week randomized-controlled trial (81 participants, BMI 36.2) compared TRE, caloric restriction (CR), and unrestricted eating (UE). TRE reduced metabolic flexibility more than CR (p < 0.05), but weight, body composition, and glycemic measures were similar across groups. Eating window reduction correlated with lower caloric intake and visceral fat, yet overall benefits were limited.
