Transoral robotic surgery (TORS) offers promising survival outcomes in treating recurrent, residual, and second primary head and neck cancers. This systematic review of 515 patients found two-year overall survival (73.8%) and disease-free survival (56.1%). Compared to primary cancer, OS and DFS risk ratios were significantly lower. TORS showed decreased morbidity and mortality, with a low rate of long-term complications, making it a viable option over traditional open surgery for previously irradiated fields.
