Transcatheter Repair for Patients with Tricuspid Regurgitation

A recent analysis of patient characteristics in the TRILUMINATE Pivotal trial highlights significant overlaps with heart failure patients with preserved ejection fraction. Most participants exhibited atrial fibrillation, hypertension, congestion signs, atrial dilatation, varying degrees of right ventricular enlargement, and impaired cardiac output at rest. Deep phenotyping of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction patients is suggested to enhance tricuspid regurgitation intervention selection, focusing on distinguishing atrial or right ventricular dilation and dysfunction. Additionally, early exercise testing could aid in diagnosing heart failure and identifying reduced right ventricular performance and pulmonary vascular issues, potentially improving patient selection for tricuspid transcatheter edge-to-edge repair.
