The study compared the effectiveness of vaginal electrical stimulation (VS) versus transcutaneous tibial nerve electrical stimulation (TTNS) versus no treatment (control group) in women with overactive bladder syndrome (OAB). Both VS and TTNS were found to be effective in reducing OAB impact and discomfort symptoms after 6 weeks of treatment. However, TTNS showed residual effects at one-month post-treatment on the OAB impact score. Both VS and TTNS also improved urinary urgency incontinence episodes compared to the control group. The study concludes that short-term interventions of TTNS and VS are effective in treating women with OAB.
