Transvaginal cerclage for prevention of preterm birth in twin pregnancies with cervical dilatation or shortening: A prospective observational study

New research probes transvaginal cerclage's impact on twin pregnancies with a short cervix. A study of 177 cases reveals higher gestational age at delivery (32.1 vs. 28.3 weeks) and neonatal survival (86.4% vs. 47.9%) in the cerclage group vs. no cerclage. Cerclage boosts survival in cases with <10mm cervical length (85.4% vs. 9.1%). However, the effects were similar for 10-15mm cervical length.
