In a study comparing single-inhaler fluticasone furoate+umeclidinium+vilanterol (FF+UMEC+VI) versus tiotropium+olodaterol (TIO+OLO) in maintenance treatment-naive COPD patients, no significant differences in COPD exacerbation or pneumonia risks were found. However, FF+UMEC+VI led to higher pharmacy costs for COPD and pneumonia treatment. These results support the use of dual LABD therapy (LAMA+LABA) as initial maintenance therapy over triple therapy (ICS + dual LABDs) in COPD management.
