Tryptophan Metabolites Predict Dietary Therapy Remission in Pediatric CD

Baseline fecal tryptophan metabolites can predict dietary therapy outcomes in pediatric Crohn’s disease (CD). Higher kynurenine levels were associated with no remission in both CDED+PEN and EEN groups. The strongest predictors of remission were tryptophan-metabolite ratios, with the serotonin/kynurenine ratio showing a perfect AUC of 1 for CDED+PEN. These findings suggest that fecal tryptophan-metabolite markers could personalize dietary interventions for pediatric CD, improving treatment outcomes.
