The study assessed the accuracy of ultrasonography as an adjunct method for evaluating the tuberculin-purified protein derivative (PPD) test, commonly used for tuberculosis screening. Results showed a significant difference between the two methods in PPD result judgment (p < 0.001), with ultrasonography demonstrating superior accuracy. The positive ratio varied, with 50 patients deemed positive manually, but only 24 identified as such through ultrasonography. Misdiagnosis occurred in 52% of cases. The study suggests that ultrasonography, offering intuitive results without complex training, holds promise as an adjunctive approach for PPD testing.
