In a study of 199 women with early-stage breast cancer, ultrasound (US) and MRI showed comparable accuracy for tumor size and stage estimation—71.1% vs. 72.6% for size and 69.2% vs. 73.6% for stage. Larger tumors were more likely to be underestimated. US offers a cost-effective, accurate first-line imaging option for treatment planning.
