
The objective of this study was to examine the ultrasonographic features of the central nervous system (CNS) in normally developing embryos and fetuses using a high-frequency transvaginal probe and three-dimensional (3D) imaging modes. The study enrolled 210 embryos and fetuses in early pregnancy and performed 2D and 3D ultrasounds using a transvaginal transducer. They utilized various 3D technologies to process the images, including HD live silhouette, OmniView, and TUI. The results showed that the CNS could be clearly visualized starting from the 10 mm crown-rump length (CRL) stage, and notable changes were observed in the rhombencephalon during different CRL stages. The study concluded that three-dimensional transvaginal ultrasound scanning could provide detailed visualization of CNS development during embryonic stages and aid in understanding the origin of the CNS.
