
A study investigated the association between the uric acid to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio (UHR) and culprit plaques in acute coronary syndrome (ACS) patients. 346 ACS patients were assessed using optical coherence tomography (OCT) to analyze culprit lesion characteristics. Results showed a higher prevalence of typical culprit plaques in the high-UHR subgroup and positive correlations between UHR and diameter/area stenosis. The UHR was independently associated with plaque rupture, erosion, and thrombus. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis indicated UHR's superior predictive value compared to low-density lipoprotein cholesterol. The study concludes that elevated UHR levels independently correlate with culprit plaque occurrence, suggesting UHR is a simple and effective parameter for ACS patients.
