Living in a walkable neighbourhood can reduce the risk of obesity-related cancers in women, including postmenopausal breast, ovarian, endometrial, and multiple myeloma. Obesity has been linked to 13 types of cancer in women, but neighbourhood walkability, promoting physical activity and lower body mass index can mitigate these risks. Women in high-walkability neighbourhoods had a 26% lower risk of obesity-related cancers. This research highlights the impact of urban design on health and suggests long-term benefits for disease prevention.
