A study assessed the safety of calcium channel blockers (CCBs) in patients with heart failure and mildly reduced ejection fraction (HFmrEF) and preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF). Based on data from four major trials involving 16,954 patients, the analysis found that overall, CCB use did not increase the risks of death or heart failure hospitalization. Notably, patients treated with CCBs had a lower risk of pump failure death, although there was a slightly elevated risk of stroke. The study indicates that CCBs may be a viable treatment option for this patient group.
