Utilization of Complementary and Alternative Medicine for Acne

This cross-sectional study investigates the use of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) for treating acne among university health sciences students. With 367 participants, 74.4% were diagnosed with acne, and 59.7% of these reported using CAM, predominantly biological forms (90.2%). Common reasons for CAM use included mild severity and reliance on internet-based self-treatment. The study highlighted a strong influence of online resources like the internet and social media in informing treatment decisions. Age, gender, and acne location on the chin were associated with CAM use. Healthcare providers should be aware of these trends to address patient concerns and inform policy development.
