The Laryngeal Cognitive-Affective Tool (LCAT) was developed to assess hypervigilance and symptom-specific anxiety in individuals with chronic laryngeal symptoms. Following initial development through cognitive interviews and expert consensus, the 15-item LCAT was validated with 268 participants. Symptomatic individuals scored significantly higher on LCAT measures compared to asymptomatic ones, demonstrating excellent reliability (α = 0.942) and validity. The tool aims to enhance tailored treatments by identifying burdensome cognitive-affective processes in laryngeal disorders.
