The study examines the processus vaginalis in congenital inguinal hernia, hydrocele, and undescended testis (UDT) to understand the role of smooth muscle cells and myofibroblasts. Seventy-eight specimens were analyzed. Inguinal hernia and hydrocele samples showed more smooth muscle presence, while UDT had more striated muscle. Myofibroblast presence was highest in hernia cases. These differences in smooth muscle distribution correlate with clinical presentations. Female samples mirrored male inguinal hernia sacs. Understanding these distinctions could aid in clinical management.
