In a matched cohort study, veterans and non-veterans with PTSD showed comparable symptom reductions following a 4- or 8-day trauma-focused intensive therapy program. Both groups experienced large improvements (Cohen’s d > 1.5), with no significant differences in PTSD severity post-treatment or diagnostic recovery rates. Findings challenge assumptions that veterans require fundamentally different PTSD treatment strategies.
