The study examined the link between vitamin D levels and severe exacerbations in COPD patients. Among 636 patients, severe vitamin D deficiency was associated with the highest exacerbation rate (40.6%). Multivariate analysis revealed that severe deficiency increased the risk of exacerbations (HR=2.74, P<0.01). These results emphasize the need for routine vitamin D assessment and supplementation to reduce the risk of severe exacerbations in COPD patients.
