Voiding and Renal Function in Women 10 Years Post-Radical Cystectomy

This study aimed to evaluate the long-term voiding and renal function changes after radical cystectomy and orthotopic neobladder surgery in women without disease recurrence. The study included 195 patients with a median follow-up of 98 months, of whom 95 had more than 10 years of follow-up. Daytime continence, nighttime continence, and chronic urine retention were identified in most patients. RF deterioration events occurred in 74 patients throughout the follow-up, and chronic kidney disease stage III-V developed in 80 patients. Age and serous-lined extramural tunnel diversion were independent predictors of RF deterioration. Women surviving more than 10 years after surgery maintained acceptable continence status, but RF deterioration developed in nearly half of them.
