Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is becoming increasingly common in adolescents and young adults, often due to obesity and metabolic syndrome. Patients with NAFLD have a higher risk of cardiovascular diseases (CVDs), which are the main cause of mortality in these patients. Even lean individuals can develop NAFLD and have an increased risk of CVDs. Weight loss strategies, such as bariatric surgery and treatment with semaglutide and tirzepatide, can alleviate both NAFLD and CVDs. Even a minimal amount of weight loss can resolve NAFLD in lean patients. Developing new GLP‐1 agonists and GLP‐1 GIP agonists has revolutionized obesity treatment. This study discusses the interrelatedness of obesity, NAFLD, and CVDs and the benefits of weight loss strategies.
